Okay, so this cow hat was a request by my photographer friend Joni. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I managed to make it without a pattern.....a lot of trial and errors, but I did it. I couldn't believe how much more adorable it would be on a sweet child. This little model is precious and SHE makes the hat look cute!
Love this & would love to make it for my friends daughter! Would you be willing to share the pattern?
ReplyDeleteHi Angie! As far as the pattern goes, unfortunately (which this is a horrible habit of mine), I didn't write it down. I just looked at a picture that my friend liked and figured it out as I went. I can tell you a few things....I used Loops & Threads brand "Charisma" (found at Micheal's) in the pink, black, and white. I just used a simple ear flap pattern w/ the white yarn first, then edging the entire bottom of the hat w/ a final row of pink for a nicer finish. Then after I edged pink, finishing the hat, I re-started the pink at the front of the hat to do the nose part--after a few rows of double crochet, start decreasing it the last two rows for a smaller rounder edge. Fold up the flap, add the two black buttons for nostrils BEFORE using a yarn needle to sew/attach the pink flap to the hat. Other than that, I'm afraid I just did a LOT of trial and error for the ears and the black spots. Oh, and the top was made w/ a black feathery/fuzzy looking yarn--I just crocheted in a ring, as if starting the top of a hat, going around a couple rows to form a circular patch of fuzzy yarn--use plain black yarn to sew it on the top of the hat. If I ever do this hat again, I will definitely try writing a pattern (never done that before!). Thank you for asking about this hat. I wish I could've helped you more than this!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the information! I've really started getting into making these cute hats! They are fun & my kids love them! I can't wait to try this one! I think I'll surprise her & make it as a Christmas gift! =)
